Wayne Turmel is a co-founder of the Remote Leadership Institute. He has spent the last twenty years or more obsessed by how people communicate at work. His work has helped organizations on four continents develop the communication skills needed to lead people, projects, and teams and to make the adjustment to remote working and virtual teams.

Besides The Long-Distance Leader: Rules for Remarkable Remote Leadership from Berrett-Koehler Publishers, Wayne is the author of nine books, including ASTD’s 10 Steps to Successful Virtual Presentations and Meet Like You Mean It: A Leader’s Guide to Painless and Productive Virtual Meetings. His newest book, The Long-Distance Teammate: Stay Engaged and Connected While Working Anywhere, was released in January 2021. He has also contributed to almost a dozen other books. Jeff Brown spent much of his career as a broadcaster, including cohosting an award-winning and nationally syndicated morning show out of Nashville. He leads the new Read to Lead Community online, a group of nearly 300 members and growing that brings together leaders from all over the world who have a passion for personal and professional growth.

Katie McCleary is an entrepreneur and storyteller who trains leaders, creatives, and humanitarians to launch big ideas by leveraging their social and cultural capital. She is the host of “The Drive” podcast on NPR’s CapRadio with the American Leadership Forum-MV in Sacramento.

Pilar set up Virtual not Distant in 2016, in order to facilitate the journey for managers, teams and organisations towards “office optional”. She has worked with small teams helping them set up their online ecosystems, delivered training both online and off, and piloted new ways of working.

 
An experienced voiceover artist, she’s now working on creating audio-first courses and “Get Started with Async” will be her first audio course, co-created with Simon Wilson.

Sophie is a work futurist, international keynote speaker, and Workforce Innovation Specialist at future-of-work consultancy, Flexcel Network. Sophie’s advisory services and workshops help leaders adapt to attract, engage, and retain a multigenerational distributed workforce. Sophie’s new book is Empathy Works: The Key to Competitive Advantage in the New Era of Work. Over 530,000 people have taken her LinkedIn video courses that focus on Future-of-Work skills, empathy, and Gen Z. Sophie hosts widely popular podcast “Transforming Work with Sophie Wade”. She got her BA at Oxford and MBA at INSEAD.

Liz Wiseman is the author of the New York Times bestseller Multipliers and the Wall Street Journal bestsellers Rookie Smarts and Impact Players. She is a former corporate executive who now works as a management researcher, executive advisor, and CEO of the Wiseman Group. Liz has received the top achievement award for leadership from Thinkers50 and has been consistently named one of the world's top 50 management thinkers in its bi-annual ranking. She lives in Menlo Park, California.
